Our Online Seminar
My name is Andre Carothers, and I lead the Batchery's online seminar called Mastering Relationships, one of three online courses that are part of our incubation program.
Most of the resources for the Mastering Relationships Seminar, plus lots of additional reading, are here. You can email me anytime, or even better, contact me on the Batchery Slack site. I have a library of materials to draw on if you need them.
The course material is divided into three sections:
Leadership & Collaboration
The Brain section concentrates on the subconscious aspects of leadership, collaboration and teambuilding
Communication Basics
The Behavior section concentrates on the basic communication and collaboration skills that lead to successful leadership
Transforming Teams
The Toolbox section shares basic tools and templates for delegation, feedback, meeting protocols, etc.
Each section includes:
Associated decks from our online course
Lots of additional reading
Also, all the decks for the online course sessions are archived here.
Finally, the Readings page has many additional articles and posts that dig deeper into startupland.
What we believe
(from experience)
Who you are and how you show up for your company matters--a lot.
Successful leadership and collaboration means understanding both the conscious factors that affect performance and also the unconscious ones--the biases, instincts, fears and compulsions that are "below the radar" for humans.
We are trainable--all of us. There is no such thing as a "born leader."
Most people and teams, particularly early stage ones, do not think much about collaboration tools. But adopting a handful of very simple collaboration tools and practices can mean the difference between success and failure.
The best leader sets the tone and the style of all the team's interactions early. Product is important, but good company culture makes for good product, and culture eats strategy for lunch.
Stress-free Learning
My personal goal is to make this learning so easy and stress-free that anyone can avoid and/or manage at least 50 percent of the communication, collaboration and leadership challenges that inevitably come up. And teach all that in a few months.
I look for the simplest, easiest things to share and then repeat them over and over. Brace yourself....
